V.161 – Black Heaven: Final Chapter is live on April 22!

Black Heaven

Acts 5 and 6

Requirements: Lv. 33 and above, but the content has stories best suited to players Lv. 120 and above. Must have completed all previous acts of Black Heaven.

Overview

  • Black Heaven: Final Chapter is here, and continues the story of an epic struggle between the Maple Alliance and the Black Wings, and features Orchid and Lotus, delving into their previously unknown story.
  • The content is split up into multiple acts, which are unlocked as you progress through them.
  • Acts 5 and 6 are available now.
  • This content is best viewed at resolution of 1024x768 or better.
  • This content features solo instanced gameplay, and you cannot enter in a party.

Gameplay

  • To begin the Black Heaven content, accept the quest ‘[Black Heaven] For Maple World’ from the Black Heaven notifier on the left side of the game window to move to the Conference Room of the Maple Alliance.
  • You can also access the content from the Dimensional Mirror in major towns. Use the Ereve Conference Room option.
  • Click on the Black Heaven icon above NPC Moco’s head to access the Black Heaven map and click on the corresponding act to begin.
  • In Act 5, you'll need to solve various puzzles involving special platforms, a maze, and circuits.
  • In Act 6, you'll have a showdown with Lotus and finally the evil mastermind of the Black Heaven, Gelimer.
  • When you want to leave, talk to NPC Moco, who will also remember your place so you can go back there when you resume playing.

New Boss: Lotus

Requirements: Lv. 190 and above. Must have completed all acts of Black Heaven.

Restrictions

  • 1 entry per day
  • No more entries per week if you defeat him

Gameplay

  • After completing all acts of the Black Heaven story, characters Lv. 190 and above will be able to take on a hard mode Lotus.
  • You'll be able to access the fight using the boss matchmaking list (Default: T key).
  • The battle against Lotus has three stages.
  • The hard mode of the Lotus battle is one of the most difficult boss fights released in MapleStory, so be prepared!

 

Absolute Labs Equipment and Coin Shop

Overview

  • Collect AbsoLab Coins from the AbsoLab Coin Event to purchase the new Absolute Labs set equipment. You'll have new, regular ways of collecting AbsoLab Coins this summer.
  • NPC Three-Hands runs the AbsoLab Coin Shop. You can find her in the lobby for the hard mode of Lotus.
  • Each job type - Warrior, Magician, Bowman, Thief, and Pirate - has its own Absolute Labs equipment set.
  • You must be at least Lv. 160 to equip these items.
  • Trade for these items is disabled when they're equipped. After equipping an item, you can use Platinum Scissors of Karma to trade it once.
  • These items can be enhanced up to 15 stars.
  • The Absolute Labs Core Suits and Hats will be released in a future update.

Absolute Labs Set Bonuses

  • 2 items: STR/DEX/INT/LUK +30
  • 3 items: Weapon/Magic ATT +30, Ignore enemy defense +10%
  • 4 items: Max HP/MP +20%, Weapon/Magic DEF +200
  • 5 items: Weapon/Magic ATT +40, Damage to bosses +30%
  • 6 items: Weapon/Magic ATT +50, Ignore enemy defense +10%

Some of the set items share similar stats based on their equipment slot:

Repeatable Black Heaven Story

Requirements: Lv. 33 and above, but the content has stories best suited to players Lv. 120 and above. Must have completed all Black Heaven acts.

Gameplay

  • If you've played through all of the Black Heaven acts, you'll be able to reset your Black Heaven progression if you'd like to play through the story again.
  • Your Black Heaven completion can only be reset once per week.
  • You will not receive special equipment such as the Maple World Savior medal again when playing through the Black Heaven acts more than once.
  • Remember, you must have all Black Heaven acts currently completed in order to challenge the hard mode of Lotus. If you reset your progression to play through the story again, you'll need to complete all of the acts in order to participate in this boss fight.

 

Additional Updates

[Updated 4/22] Star Planet: Star Step

[Updated 4/22] An issue with Star Arena and the mini-games has been resolved, and this content is now available.

Requirement: Lv. 33 and above.

  • A new game has been added to Star Planet called Star Step.
  • Talk to NPC Furball in the Star Arena to access Star Arena Floor 3.
  • On Star Arena Floor 3, talk to NPC Steppie to play the Star Step game!
  • Star Step can be played with 2-5 players.
  • Increase your Step by inputting the onscreen button prompts.
  • The higher your Step count, the harder the Steps will be.
  • Star Points and Reward Points will be awarded based on your ranking against your opponents.

 

[Better Maple] Party Quest EXP Improvement

At players' request, we've looked into the balance of EXP earned from solo play and from party quests. Since solo grinding was found to be generally faster at most levels, we've increased the EXP by 20% when completing in the following Party Quests:

  • Lord Pirate
  • Dragon Rider
  • The Ice Knight's Curse
  • Kenta in Danger
  • First Time Together
  • Dimensional Schism
  • Moon Bunny's Rice Cake
  • Remnant of the Goddess
  • Forest of Poison Haze

  • Resurrection of the Hoblin King

 

[Better Maple] Channel Additions

  • We've added channels to Dimension Invasion and the Evolution System to alleviate the lag many of you experience there when numerous other players in your world are using these areas.
  • In the Evolution System, you'll need to complete the introductory quests to access this option.

 

Bug Fixes

  • The Demon Mors pet obtained from the returning player event can now equip the Ghost of Death.
  • The Big Ribbon Yellow Dress can now be placed in the cash inventory.
  • The tooltip for the Commerci trading post will now display correctly.
  • The Singles Life and Red Lantern chairs will now correctly appear when used.
  • The description for damage skin items will no longer list Zero as a restriction.
  • The Wild Hunter skills Double Jump and Graviboots now work correctly on a gamepad.
  • Gliding-type moves now work correctly on a gamepad.
  • Skills that add extra line(s) of damage will now work correctly after a character dies while a Gollux Potion buff is in effect.
  • Corsair and Cannoneer jobs can now obtain the Power of the Spirit Lightning quest.
  • Tot’s Trial Bottom has been lowered to Lv. 10.
  • Held attack skills animation will no longer appear for other players when they have stopped.
  • An empty map frame will no longer appear when entering the Labyrinth in Tynerum.

  • Golden Pigs will appear once every hour in a variety of areas. They will drop a Golden Pig’s Dream Box when you defeat them.
  • Golden Pigs will only drop the box when hunting in areas around your character’s level range. For example, a Lv. 200 cannot get the box when hunting pigs in Victoria Island.
  • You can find Golden Pigs in the following areas:
    • Victoria Island: Golem's Temple, Sleepywood
    • Edelstein: Verne Mine
    • Nihal Desert: Sahel, Magatia labs
    • Mu Lung Garden: Mu Lung, Red-Nose Pirate Den

Earth Day Attendance Check

April 22 - May 6

Requirement: Lv. 33 and above

Earth Day - an annual, worldwide event for responsible environmental protection and stewardship - is on April 22, and to help all of you show off the spirit of the event Maple style, you'll be able to earn the new Earth Day Damage Skin and a Maple World Chair. Check out the info about these and more rewards below, along with how to get them.

How to Participate

  • Click the event notifier on the left side of the game window, and select the quest '[Earth Day] Greetings...From Earth!' to begin the attendance event.
  • You can check the participation and progress using the attendance notifier.
  • Defeat monsters within your level range and collect enough Trash to receive an Attendance Stamp. Some monsters do not apply.
  • Click "Complete" to receive the day's reward.

Rewards:

  • Day 1 - Power Elixir (20): Untradeable
  • Day 3 - 2x EXP Coupon: Receive 2x EXP for 1 hour. Expires after 7 days if it isn’t used. Untradeable.

  • Each quest can only be completed once a day.

  • Defeat the Black Heaven Core to obtain an AbsoLab Fragment.

  • Collect 6 AbsoLab Fragments to obtain 1 AbsoLab Coin.
  • Use the AbsoLab Coins to purchase Absolute Labs equipment from NPC Three-Hands in the Black Heaven Core Entrance.
  • All 6 acts of Black Heaven must be completed to access Black Heaven Core Entrance.

April 22 - May 26

[Updated 4/30] The White Heaven event has been extended by one week, and will now end on May 26.

Requirement: Lv. 33 and above

  • You fought against Black Heaven, but now there's a new threat in Maple World—White Heaven!
  • Join Kayla the Fairy as you uncover the mystery behind this mysterious ship.
  • There will certainly be surprises along the way!
  • To begin, click the event notifier on the left side of the game window, and select the quest '[White Heaven] Another One?!'
  • If you lose your way, you can always return to White Heaven by finding the quest '[White Heaven] Infiltrate' from the event notifier on the left side of the game window,
  • Complete all the main event quests and the daily record playing quests to receive a damage skin, chair and a special ring with an effect!
  • Once the main event quests are completed, a daily quest can be completed to receive a buff.

  • Rewards for completing the main event quests and the daily record playing quests are:
  • White Heaven Chair: Untradeable

Cash Inventory Transfer Event

May 7 – May 19

  • Do you have a cash item you’ve wanted to move to another character on your account? Now you can! For a limited time, you will be able to transfer most cash items between your characters within the same world. It’s the Cash Inventory Transfer Event!
  • Take this opportunity to share a Hyper Teleport Rock, move cash cover items between characters, move a beloved pet to a new character, and more!
  • You can only transfer cash items between characters in the same world. This does not include different worlds in the same world alliance. For example, you can transfer items between two characters on Mardia, but you cannot transfer an item from a character on Mardia to a character on Kradia.
  • Trading cash items between your characters is easy! All you need to do is follow these simple steps:
  1. Enter the Cash Shop.
  2. Pick an eligible item you would like to transfer to a different character, and move it into your Cash Inventory.
  3. Right-click the item.
  4. Click the TRANSFER button.
  5. Select the recipient of the item from the drop down.
  6. Click the ‘OK’ button.
  • The selected item will now appear in the other character’s Cash Inventory the next time you login to that character. All jobs are able to transfer cash items between each other, but Explorers will not have the option to transfer to another Explorer because they already share their Cash Inventory.
  • There are a few items that are not able to be transferred:
    • EXP Coupons
    • Potion Pot
    • Shop Permits and Hired Merchants
    • Friendship and Couple items

 

In the Beginning, There was a Mushroom

May 6 – June 2

Requirement: Lv. 33 and above

  • Accept the quest '[10th Anniversary] Scholarly 'Shroom's Calling' from the star event notifier on the left side of the game window to begin the event.
  • Accept the quest ‘[10th Anniversary] To the Festival Spot!’ from the notifier on the left side to obtain a '10th Anniversary Festival Teleport Rock' which will take you to the '10th Anniversary Festival Location' where Scholarly 'Shroom will be located.
  • Help the Scholarly 'Shroom unravel the origin of a number of iconic MapleStory monsters.
  • Tackle the different mysteries in any order, as long as they are currently available.
  • After selecting a monster to research, you must see it through to the end before being allowed to select another one.

Unlock Dates:

Initially, only the Orange Mushrooms, Axe Stumps, and Horntail stories are available. The others will be time released throughout the 10th Anniversary. All of the quests in this event will run until 6/2 when released.

  • 5/6 - Orange Mushrooms, Axe Stumps, and Horntail
  • 5/13 - Yeti and Pepe, Water Thief Monster, and Snail
  • 5/20 - Moon Bunny, Pig and Boar, and Slime

Cake vs. Pie: The King of Desserts

May 6 - June 2

Requirements: Lv. 30 and above, or Zero with the second story chapter completed

  • The glorious and delectable Cake vs. Pie battle has returned in a new form!
  • This time around, you can select whether you want to join the cake team or the pie team.
  • You can choose your team each day.
  • Use the event notifier (star icon) on the left side of your game window to accept the quest for the team of your choice, and again for your team's subsequent quests.
  • Cake and pie monsters will appear in various maps. Hunt the monsters of the opposing team to rack up points for your own team.
  • You'll receive special buffs as your team achieves certain point accomplishments, such as being the first team to reach 1000 points or 10,000 points, or earning double the amount of points as the opposing team.
  • You'll also earn special cake vs. pie themed equipment from years gone by as you complete your team's quests.

 

Ikura Rising

May 6 – June 2

Requirements: Lv. 33 and above

We are pleased to welcome the sushi-monster Ikura to Maple World! Designed by forum user zEunWol during our first MapleStory Design-a-Monster Contest, this sushi-monster is ready and waiting to pick a fight. You will have to dodge his wasabi missiles if you want to have any hope of being victorious!

You can find this delicious monster roaming through the towns of Maple World, and spending time hunting them will earn you 10th Anniversary Coins, gift boxes, and the new Ikura Warrior Medal!

  • Accept the quest ‘[10th Anniversary] Ikura Rising’, which will explain the event.
  • Accept the quest ‘[10th Anniversary] Delicious Ikura’.
  • Collect 30 Tiny Ikura items by hunting Ikura monsters that appear in each town map in order to receive a medal.
  • Can be done only once on one character per world.
  • Ikuras also have a chance of dropping 10th Anniversary Gift Boxes and 10th Anniversary Coins.

Reward:

  • Ikura Warrior Medal: STR/DEX/INT/LUK +1, MaxHP/MaxMP +1000, ATT/MATT +1, Speed/Jump +10

 

10th Anniversary Festival

May 6 – June 2

Requirements: Lv.33 and above, or Zero with the second story chapter completed

10th Anniversary Festival Spot

  • Help Manager Mush with the celebrations for Nexon America’s 10th Anniversary of MapleStory!
  • Accept the quest '[10th Anniversary] To the Festival Spot!' from the star icon on the left side of your game window.
  • You'll receive a 10th Anniversary Festival Teleport Rock, which can be used to reach the festival map. It has a cooldown of 10 minutes after you use it.
  • Talk to Manager Mush in the festival map to complete the quest and continue with the festival events.

Festival Showers

  • The festival meter will build over time as you and your fellow Maplers participate in the festival quests.
  • Three minutes after the meter reaches full, items will rain down in the festival map.
  • You can collect up to three items per festival shower.
  • You can check the meter's progress by looking at the meter itself in the festival map, or through the quest '[10th Anniversary] Festival Progress', available through the star notifier on the left side of your game window.
  • Items that rain down include:
    • 10th Anniversary Coins
    • Developer's Letters
    • 10th Anniversary Armor Boxes
    • Potions

Festival Maple Leaf Exchange

  • After completing the quest '[10th Anniversary] To the Festival Spot!', accept and complete the quest '[10th Anniversary] About the 10th Anniversary Festival' from Manager Mush.
  • Collect Festival Maple Leaves from monster drops
  • Visit the festival map and talk to Manager Mush to exchange 200 leaves for one 10th Anniversary Coin using the quest '[10th Anniversary] Collect 10th Anniversary Festival Maple Leaves'.

Developer's Letters

  • Accept the quest '[10th Anniversary] Collect the Developer's Letters!' from the star icon on the left side of your game window.
  • Go to the festival map and talk to Manager Mush to complete the quest, which will earn you a Developer's Letter Collection Book.
  • You can collect Developer's Letters from 10th Anniversary Commemorative Boxes dropped by monsters around your level, and you can also collect them in the festival map when the festival gauge reaches maximum and items float down.
  • Opening a Developer's Letter will show you a random letter specially written by a member of the MapleStory team in Korea, though as you collect more and more of them, it may not always be one you haven't seen.
  • You can check your collection and view groups in the collection by double-clicking the Developer's Letter Collection Book item in the Use tab of your item inventory.
  • You can collect ten 10th Anniversary Coins for each group you complete in the collection.
  • You can collect fifty additional 10th Anniversary Coins for completing the whole collection book.
  • You're likely to find letters that aren't part of the book, so keep collecting to see what you'll get!

Sharing Spirit Buff

  • After completing the quest '[10th Anniversary] To the Festival Spot!' then '[10th Anniversary] About the 10th Anniversary Festival', accept the quest '[10th Anniversary] Share That Festive Feeling!' from Manager Mush.
  • You'll receive a 10th Anniversary Sharing Spirit item in the Use tab of your item inventory. It will expire at the end of the 10th Anniversary Festival.
  • You can use the buff on another player by double-clicking it when standing near them. It has a cooldown of 30 minutes.
  • 10th Anniversary Sharing Spirit buff stats: Weapon/Magic ATT +30, Max HP/MP +500, Duration: 30 minutes. It will disappear if you log out or cancel it.

Maple Saint Medal

  • Use the Sharing Spirit Buff on other players at least 30 times in order to accept and complete the quest '[10th Anniversary] 10 Years Together Medal' from the star icon on the left side of your game window.
  • Reward: Maple Saint medal: Req. Lv.: 33, STR/DEX/INT/LUK +9, MaxHP/MP +200, Weapon/Magic ATT +5, Weapon/Magic DEF +70, ACC/AVOID +30, untradeable, one-of-a-kind item

10th Anniversary Commemorative Box

  • 10th Anniversary Commemorative Boxes drop from most monsters around your level range during the event.
  • All 10th Anniversary Commemorative Boxes will expire on 6/2/2015 at 23:59 so make sure to use them before then!
  • Items available from these boxes include:
    • Spell Trace (3-5)
    • Elixir
    • Developer's Letter
    • 10th Anniversary Coin (2) (Only 50 can be obtained a day per character through the 10th Anniversary Commemorative Box)

Daily Login Gift

  • Accept the quest '[10th Anniversary] Daily Login Gift' from the star icon on the left side of your game window.
  • You'll receive three 10th Anniversary Coins.
  • This quest can be completed once per day.

[Updated 6/11] 10th Anniversary Coin Shop

[Updated 6/11] The 10th Anniversary Coin Shop and the Maple Leaf to 10th Anniversary Coin exchange has been extended to July 7.

  • Spark and Windy have returned with special wares for the 10th Anniversary.
  • You can visit them in the Event Hall. To get there, speak to the Dimensional Mirror (located in most towns) and select the Event Hall.
  • Many items are only available in limited quantity per character and expire if you don't use them, so be sure to check each item's tooltip in its shop before you buy.
  • You can purchase items from these shops using 10th Anniversary Coins, which can be obtained through various 10th Anniversary events.
  • Items sold include:
    • Maple Saint weapons and armor along with special upgrade items for the Maple Saint weapons
    • Special hats like the Raven Persona, the Kaivsurnet, and Kanna's Ribbon
    • Collectors items like the Bamboo Spear, the Luminous Heaven Dagger, and Luminous' white and gold Aurora Robe
    • A variety of mounts, damage skins, and chairs
    • Popular items that you've asked for like a Job Advancement Coin, Kaiser color change coupons, inventory slot expansions, AP and SP Reset Scrolls, and equipment upgrade items such as a Clean Slate Scroll and 9th Anniversary Prime Scrolls
