Thunder Breaker

3rd Job Advancement

  • Gale: At Master Level: Damage increased for every accumulated Lightning Buff from 3% to 4%.

  • Final Blow: At Master Level: Combo Count Cost decreased from 30 to 15, Damage increased from 460% to 490%, Number of Attacks increased from 3 to 4.
  • Combo Tempest: At Master Level: When skill is used, consumes double the cost of Combo Orbs per stack level for 15 and can be stacked up to 9 times if reused in a given time.

Hyper Skills

  • Beyond Blade: Damage increased from 420% to 640%, Number of Attacks increased from 2 to 3, Enemy DEF Ignored increased from 20% to 30%.

  • Phantom Imprint: At Master Level: Duration increased from 15 sec to 30 sec.

  • Get Outta The Way: The cooldown has been increased from 30 seconds to 60 seconds.

 

Other Job Updates

Evan

  • Evans no longer need to complete the required quests to attain bonus SP. Instead they can gain them every 5 levels.
  • Bonus skill points are rewarded every 5 levels between Lv. 10 and Lv. 60.

 

Mihile

  • Bonus ability points are rewarded when making the 4th job advancement.

 

Magicians

  • The Teleport skill can now be used mid-air.

 

Beast Tamer

  • The Beast Tamer's quests have been modified due the mob level changes and area closures.

 

Kanna

  • Kanna's story quests have received adjustments to level requirements and EXP rewards. This has been done to keep the story flow from before Lv. 30 and after Lv. 120.
  • The following quests have been removed:
    • Secure Retreat
    • Town of Fairies
    • Hersha's Request
    • Nobunaga's Deceit
    • Red Snow

 

Hayato

  • Hayato's main story quests have been adjusted to be completed below level 30. EXP rewards have been adjusted to compensate for the adjusted quests.
  • The following quests have been removed:
    • Samurai Skirmish 3 & 4
    • A Piercing Request
    • The Touch of Oda 2, 3, & 4

 

System Updates

Combat System

Elite Monsters

  • Elite Monsters will be summoned after hunting monsters in a hunting map.
  • The Elite Monsters will be twice as big with more health and much more strength!

 

Elite Bosses

  • After fighting multiple Elite Monsters, an Elite Boss will be summoned.
  • The map will be cleared of other mobs and the Elite Boss will appear with 2 Elite Monsters.
  • Completing the Elite Boss to initiate the Bonus Stage.

 

Bonus Stage

  • Multiple items will appear around the map.
  • Items will range from potions, EXP, mesos, scrolls, weapons, and armor!

 

Combos

  • More EXP will be rewarded when killing monsters within 10 second intervals.
  • The combo count will reach a max of 999.
  • Bonus EXP will also be rewarded when killing monsters with different skill combos.

 

Party Matching

  • A party Invite will appear when entering a map with another character in the similar level range.
  • The party matching system can be turned off and on through the System Options.
  • Party Matching will not activate when:
    • Both characters are in a party
    • One character is in a full party
    • Party invite is disabled

 

Other

  • More than 999 Ability Points can be invested in STR/DEX/INT/LUK.
  • Characters level 197 and up will have their AP reset, Evans level 194 and up will have their AP reset.
  • Demon Avengers will not have their AP reset.
  • Please note that only points invested in STR/DEX/INT/LUK will be reset.
  • A new Damage Effect is now available. The effect can be turned off by going into the System -> Options -> Damage Effect.

 

Scroll System

Requirement: Lv. 20 or above

  • You can now use new Spell Traces to enhance equipment.
  • The equipment's type, level, and enhancement success rate will determine how many Spell Traces are needed.
  • When using Spell Traces, the chances of the item being destroyed on failure is 0% - there is no chance of the item being destroyed.
  • Failing to enhance with Spell Traces will not destroy the equipment, but it will take away an upgrade count.
  • Enhancing equipment using Spell Traces will use the upgrade count on the item.
  • You can use the new scroll enhancement UI by double-clicking the notifier on the left side of the screen.
  • Collect Spell Traces from hunting monsters Lv. 70 and above.
  • Spell Traces are also available from the Hot Summer Box.
  • You can also get Spell Traces when extracting scrolls.
  • These are the types of scrolls you can use with Spell Traces:
    • Weapon Scroll: 100%. 70%, 30%, 15% Success Rate Scroll
    • Armor Scroll: 100%, 70%, 30% Success Rate Scroll
  • Existing scrolls can be used the same way as before.
  • You can now only give bonus potential to equipment that already has potential.

 

Rune System

  • A new rune system has been added, and runes will be created periodically in most field maps.
  • There can only be one rune at a time in a given map.
  • A rune can only be activated by one player at a time, and the buff will only be given to the person who harvests the rune.
  • To harvest a rune, stand in front of it and press the shortcut key used for Mining/Harvesting professions.
  • An input command will display on the screen. You have 10 seconds to enter the command by typing the same keys that appear on the screen.
  • If the command is entered incorrectly, or if the 10-second time limit runs out, the rune will not harvested. You have to wait 9 seconds before you can try again.
  • If the command is entered correctly, you will gain the rune's effect.
  • Buffs from harvested runes last for 2 minutes.
  • After you receive a rune's effect, you will not be able to receive another rune's effect for 14 minutes.
  • There are four types of runes:
    • Rune of Swiftness: Increased Speed and Attack Speed, plus 100% bonus EXP.
    • Rune of Recovery: Increased HP Recovery Speed, p lus 100% bonus EXP for 2 minutes.
    • Rune of Decay: Monsters in the field map will die immediately and your damage will increase, plus 100% bonus EXP.
    • Rune of Destruction: Regular monsters' HP will decrease continuously for 15 sec. Your attack will increase, plus 100% bonus EXP.

 

Equipment Updates

  • Several pieces of Lv.20 - 100 equipment have set bonuses now.
  • Not all Lv.100 and below equipment has set bonuses now. Be sure to check equipment vendors and monster drops to see which sets are now available.
  • Lv.20 set effect: The set effect will also increase by this base amount for equipment every 20 levels higher.
    • 2 Set Effect: Weapon/Magic DEF +20, Accuracy/Avoidability +20
    • 3 Set Effect: Max HP/MP +1%
    • 4 Set Effect: Main Stat +1, ATT +1 (Magic ATT for Magician equipment)
  • When equipment drops in the field has hidden Potential, a graphical effect will display on it based on its Potential rank.
  • You can also see the potential rank on the equipment tooltip before getting an appraisal.
  • Appraisal fees have been lowered for equipment Lv. 120 and lower.

 

Inner Ability Updates

Inner ability has been revamped. Honor Level has been deleted and Honor EXP has been reset, including any Honor EXP that was previously accumulated. Here are some of the key changes:

  • Characters Lv. 30+ will get 500 Honor EXP for each level.
  • You can gain a certain amount of Honor EXP when you use the Medal of Honor.
  • You can rank up your Inner Ability to Legendary and keep re-configuring them even at the Legendary rank.
  • You can keep re-configuring your Inner Ability using Honor EXP. When re-configuring, the Inner Ability's rank and option will change.
  • You can use Honor EXP to lock the rank or the Inner Ability stat. Locking the rank can only be done on Epic rank or higher. Locking the stat can only be done once your rank is locked.
  • You can still use Circulators and Miracle Circulators and their effects will stay the same.
  • You can place consumable items such as the Medal of Honor or event boxes into quickslots to use them.

 

Buddy List and Maple User List Updates

  • Now you can stay connected with your friends even when they change character, via the new Account Buddy system.
  • The Account Buddy system registers your friends on the account level, although you still add them by character name (no need to use Account ID).
  • How to add an Account Buddy:
    • Open "Maple User List" (default shortcut: "R").
    • Click the "Add Friend" button at the bottom of the "Buddy Tab”.
    • On the pop-up window, check the "Account Friend" check box at the bottom.
    • Add your friend by entering their character name.
  • Once a friend is registered this way, even if they switch to another character, you can still communicate and interact with them. Chat / Party invites, however, will be sent to your friends' current character.
  • You can create nicknames for account buddies when you add them.
  • You can convert existing buddies into Account Buddies by right-clicking their names on the list and choosing "Convert to Account Buddy”.
  • If you already have multiple characters of a friend listed as your buddies and you convert them to an Account Buddy, they will be consolidated into one.
  • If you wish to revert an Account Buddy to regular buddy, simply delete that friend and add them again without checking the "Account Friend" check box.

 

There have also been some UI changes as a result of the new buddy system.

  • The number of buttons on the Buddy UI have been reduced to three.
  • "Group Chat," "Maple Chat," and "Edit" buttons within the Buddy UI have been removed.
  • Some buttons are now integrated as right-click menus.
  • A "My Status" switch is added to let you choose your status as appears to your friends.
  • A "Buddy Memo" function is added to let you edit your Account Buddies' nicknames.

 

Additional Updates

Cash Item Updates

  • An Auto All Cure pet skill has been added.
  • Several pet skill items have had their names updated to clarify their function.
  • The various types of pet food available for purchase have been replaced with the new Premium Pet Food which can be used by any pet, to reduce the effort of searching through pet food to find one that is specific to your pet.
  • The Wheel of Destiny has been renamed "Respawn Token" to clarify its function.
  • 30-day versions of the Traveling Merchant and Portable Storage have been added.
  • A 1-day, reusable version of the Safety Charm has been added, named the Safety Gem.
  • A 1-day, reusable version of the Respawn Token has been added, named the Respawn Pass.
  • The House Wedding Ticket has been added.
  • Regularly available, 90-day outfit packages have been removed. Permanent versions may be offered in the future on a limited-time basis.
  • The prices have been lowered for the Rock of Evolution, Mushroom House Elf (30-day), Granny's Food Stand (30-day) the Traveling Merchant (1-day), Portable Storage (1-day), and all wedding tickets.
  • Triple Megaphones and bundles of most megaphones and messengers have been removed to make spamming them a little less convenient.

 

Quest Updates

  • Quests that were difficult to navigate to have been made easier.
  • Some quests now give more EXP.
  • New quests have been added to the Perion Excavation Site.
  • Due to the monster changes and area closures, some quests have been removed and are no longer available even if they were in progress.
  • Zero’s quests will be kept the same.

 

Monster Updates

  • Monster levels have been adjusted for Lv. 140 and lower to allow for smoother gameplay flow and to reduce lower-level monsters in different areas being targeted for the same character level range.
  • Most monsters have had their HP changed along with the amount of EXP the give when defeated.

 

Maps and Movement

  • Due to the monster level updates, some areas are now targeted at different level characters than they were before.
  • A map of Grandis has been added to the World Map.
  • An area map for Gold Beach has been added.
  • An area map has been added for Fantasy Theme World.
  • Regular Cabs on Victoria Island can now be used for free.
  • The following maps and theme dungeons are undergoing renovation and will be closed:
    • Korean Folk Town
    • The Cursed Forest (Lupin's Nest and the Forest of Evil Energy)
    • Nautilus Beach
    • Florina Beach
    • Omega Sector
    • Kerning Square
    • Mushroom Castle
    • Tera Forest and Neo City
    • Chryse
    • Ariant Coliseum
    • Spiegelmann’s Gonzo Gallery
    • Several field mini dungeons
    • Sakura Castle
    • Fight for Azwan - Hilla will remain accessible.

 

Entry Level Changes

  • Mu Lung Dojo - Level requirement adjusted to Lv. 120.
  • Root Abyss - Level requirement adjusted to Lv. 125.
  • Monster Park Extreme - Level requirement adjusted to Lv. 100.
  • Nett’s Pyramid - Level requirement adjusted to lv. 80-109.

 

Silent Crusade

  • The Silent Crusade will now start at Lv. 90.
  • The monsters that you have to hunt and the accompanying quests have been changed based on the monster level adjustment as well as NPCs and map locations.
  • Chapter 2 will now reward a Spell Trace instead of a Silent Crusade Weapon Scroll.
  • Zero will now be able to proceed through the Silent Crusade quests and can use a Zero exclusive quest for Arkarium quests.

 

Lord Balrog Updates

  • Level requirements for Lord Balrog Expedition have been adjusted to Lv. 65-100.
  • Previously nerfed abilities can now be used along with all skills.
  • Lord Balrog’s attack that reduces HP to 1 has been removed.
  • Some of Balrog’s items have been improved:
    • Balrog’s Leather Shoes: All Stats +3, Weapon ATT +1, Magic ATT +1
    • Balrog’s Fur Shoes: All Stats +3, Weapon ATT +1, Magic ATT +1
    • Balrog Weapons: Attack Power has been increased to match other weapons in the same level range. Balrog weapons that were already stronger than other weapons in the same level range were not adjusted.

 

Zakum Updates

  • Level requirements to challenge Zakum have been changed:
    • Easy mode has change to Lv.50
    • Normal and Chaos mode has changed to Lv. 90
  • Zakum can now be accessed from all channels for all modes.
  • Previous pre-requisite quests have been removed and replaced with a repeatable quest.

 

Tot’s Know-How Updates

  • The quest instructions at each level are no longer supported in Tot's Know-How.
  • Tot's Know-How will not have level requirements.
  • The Tot's Know-How tutorial quest has been updated using revised content.
    • Several quests have been changed.
    • Quests about the Maple Guide, Maple Chat, and Item Enhancement have been added.
    • A few quests have been removed.

 

Maple Guide

  • A new guide system to help navigate players through quests and hunting fields for levels 10-140.
  • Job Advancement Quest buttons will not disappear until the Job Advancement has been completed.
  • Different recommended field buttons will appear based on the player’s level.
  • Some recommended fields are only accessible only when you have related quests completed.
  • Recommended contents in the quest window and level-up guide have been removed.

 

Transposition

  • Bonus Potential rank will now carry over when using Transposition.

 

Hair

  • Due to a concern from the Japanese MapleStory team regarding their old K-On! event, the appearance of the Designer Hair has been modified slightly.

 

Guild

  • The Guild window can now be minimized for ease of use.
  • The Guild info window will now display your avatar's face.
  • Time restrictions to join guild after leaving your guild has been removed.

 

Ardentmill Harvesting Area

  • The entry limits to the harvesting areas have been removed and no Entry Pass is required.
  • Entry is granted once you have learned Harvesting or Mining.
  • The following will still be available in regular fields:
    • Gold Flowers
    • Heartstone
    • Mysterious Herb
    • Mysterious Legendary Herb
    • Mysterious Vein
    • Mysterious Legendary Vein.
  • Mana Crystals and Spell Essences will now drop from monsters Lv. 70 and above.

 

Mini-Game Events

Maple Omok

June 25 - July 29

Requirement: Lv. 33 or above

  • Speak to Kemdi in the Event Hall to be taken to the Mini-game Station.
  • Speak to the Do Gong to enter the queue for Maple Omok.
  • Note: Make sure you have an empty ETC slot before attempting to join.
  • Compete against another player in a game of Maple Omok.
  • When it's your turn, you have to place a stone within 30 seconds. If you don't, your turn runs out and the opponent gets to go.
  • If you want to undo the most recent game result, with the opponent's permission, you can press the "Request Undo" button and try again. (You can only undo once.)
  • The first player who gets an unbroken row of five stones horizontally, vertically, or diagonally within the 20-minute time limit wins.
  • When you press the "Request Draw" button and the opponent accepts it, the game ends in draw regardless of the outcome of the game.
  • You can leave the game before the game ends when you press the "Leave" button. The player that leaves the game will not be allowed to play another game till 15 min has passed.
  • This event is limited to 10 times a day per character.

Rewards:

  • Win: Dizzy Drop Event Ticket (2)
  • Loss: Dizzy Drop Event Ticket (1)

 

Memory

June 25 - July 29

Requirement: Lv. 33 or above

  • Speak to Kemdi in the Event Hall to be taken to the Mini-game Station.
  • Speak to Kona to enter the queue for Memory.
  • Note: Make sure you have an empty USE and ETC slot before attempting to join.
  • Remember the first 20 images on each card.
  • Find the 10 matching pairs within 20 minutes.
    • If you pick a correct pair, you will have another chance.
    • If you fail, it will be your opponent’s turn.
    • You have 10 seconds for your turn.
    • The player who finds more matching pairs is the winner.
    • This event is limited to 10 times a day per character.

Rewards:

  • Win: Dizzy Drop Event Ticket (2)
  • Loss: Dizzy Drop Event Ticket (1)

 

One Card

June 25 - July 29

Requirement: Lv. 33 or above

  • Speak to Kemdi in the Event Hall to be taken to the Mini-game Station.
  • Speak to Fortune to enter the queue for One Card.
  • You can play each mini game 10 times a day.
  • You cannot register for the wait list while you are in a party.
  • No rewards are given if you forfeit mini games and a play count will still be taken away.
  • Depending on the game, all mini games will be unavailable for 15 minutes if forfeited in the middle of a game.
  • Talk to each mini game NPC to see your remaining play counts for each game.

 

  • Four players are required to start a game.
  • Upon entering, each player is given a hand of cards.
  • When it's your turn, you can play cards with the same color or number as the previous card.
  • If you have no cards you can place, you must draw a card from the deck.
  • The goal is to get rid of all of your cards.
  • If you reach 17 cards in your hand, you will lose the game.
  • There are four types of cards: Colored Numbers, Magic, Attack, and Knight.
    • Colored Number: Numbers from 1-6 in each color.
    • Magic: Various effects such as skipping player's turns, changing the color to one of your choice, etc.
    • Attack: Cause the next player to have to take a specified amount of cards. These can be defended by a card that has the same or higher attack power.
    • Knight: Based on the Cygnus Knights, these powerful cards have various special effects.

Rewards:

  • 1st: Hot Summer Coin (3)
  • 2nd: Hot Summer Coin (2) and Hot Summer Box (3)
  • 3rd: Hot Summer Coin (1) and Hot Summer Box (3)
  • 4th: Hot Summer Coin (1) and Hot Summer Box (3)

 

Monsteropoly

June 25 - July 29

Requirement: Lv. 33 or above

  • Speak to Kemdi in the Event Hall to be taken to the Mini-game Station.
  • Speak to the Dice Admin to enter the queue for Monsteropoly.
  • Note: Make sure you have an empty USE and ETC slot before attempting to join.
  • Monsteropoly is a game that is played against two other players.
  • The time limit for one round is 10 minutes.
  • The Heart icon represents the player's resources, used to tame monsters.
  • The Maple Leaf icon represents the player's points, determined by the amount of Hearts and monsters owned.
  • Players will lose the game if their Hearts reach 0.
  • Press the "Roll" button to throw the dice and advance your piece.
  • Rolling doubles will allow the player to roll again.
  • Players can tame the monster on the location they land on with their hearts to make it their area.
  • If players land on their own monster, they may choose to enhance it to increase the monster's attack.
  • When other players land on your area, you will obtain hearts from them based on the monster's attack.
  • Players can also seduce and enhance monsters from other players when they land on the area at the cost of additional hearts.
  • A fully enhanced monster (+3) cannot be seduced by other players.
  • Landing on one of the random zones, located on the corners of the board, will give players one ability:
    • Defend an attack once: If you enter a monster area owned by an opponent, your Hearts will not get deducted. (Lasts 1 turn.)
    • Move anywhere: Allows the player to move anywhere on the board.
    • Enhance a monster: Enhances a monster you own for free.
    • Seduce a monster: Allows the player to select any monster owned by an opponent to seduce.
  • There are also special zones located on the game board:
    • Start: Landing on or passing the starting space will give the player 100 hearts.
    • Potion: Gives the player 100 hearts.
    • Bomb: Decreases the player's hearts by 200.
    • Moon Bunny: This monster starts fully enhanced when tamed.
  • This event is limited to 10 times a day per character.

Game of Yut

June 25 - July 29

Requirement: Lv. 33 or above

  • Speak to Kemdi in the Event Hall to be taken to the Mini-game Station.
  • Speak to the Wee Moon Bunny to enter the queue for Game of Yut.
  • Note: Make sure you have an empty USE and ETC slot before attempting to join.
  • Compete against another player in the traditional game of Yut.
  • Press the "Cast Yut" button to throw the Yut Sticks.
  • Players can move from 0 to 5 spaces or 1 space back at a time depending on their cast(s).
  • Getting a 4 or 5 will result in an additional cast.
  • Moving onto a space with the player's own piece will combine all pieces on the space, allowing them to move together.
  • Moving onto a space with an opponent's piece will result in it getting captured and sent back to the starting area.
  • If a game piece moves to an 'arrow' space, the character will take a shortcut, bypassing a section of the board.
  • The first player to move all four of their game pieces from the start to the goal wins.
  • This event is limited to 10 times a day per character.

[Updated 6/27] Kaleido-Spinner Madness

June 25 – July 29

Requirement: Lv. 33 or above

  • Speak to Kemdi in the Event Hall to be taken to the Mini-game Station.
  • Collect Kaleido-Spinner Coupons by playing Maple Omok and Memory at the Mini-game Station.
  • Talk to the Dizzy Drop NPC to spin the Kaleido-Spinner.

Rewards

  • Hot Summer Box : Contains consumable items, trait items, Chaos Scrolls, Spell Traces, Pink Flower Tube Coupon, Pink Flower Tube scrolls, or more.
  • Jackpot! Kaleido-Spinner Box : Contains consumable items, chairs, mounts, or a Moonwalk Manual.

[Updated 7/7] Cash Inventory Transfer Event

June 25 - July 22

Note: This event has been extended through July 22.

For a limit time, you will be able to transfer most Cash items between your characters within the same world!

  • Some of the amazing things you can do in this event include:
    • Sharing a Hyper Teleport Rock.
    • Easily move cash cover items between characters.
    • Move your old beloved pets to a new character.
  • Trading the Cash items between your characters is easy! All you will need to do is follow these simple steps:
    • Enter the Cash Shop.
    • Move a eligible item you would like to move into your Cash Inventory.
    • Right click the item.
    • Click the TRANSFER button.
    • Select the recipient of the item from the drop down.
    • Click the OK button.
  • That's all! The selected item will now appear on the other characters Cash Inventory the next time you login to that character.
  • All jobs will be able to transfer between each other but please note that Explorers will not have the option to transfer to another Explorer because they already share their Cash Inventory.
  • There will be a few restrictions on the type of items that can be transferred:
    • EXP Coupons
    • Potion Pot
    • Shop Permits and Hired Merchants
    • Friendship and Couple items
  • Note: Items that can't be moved back into the Cash Inventory will not be able to be transferred.
  • Also Cash items cannot be transferred across worlds within a merged world.

Additional information for this event can be found in the quest "[Notice]Cash Inventory Transfer Event" found in the event notifier on the left of the game window.

  • Hot Summer Boxes drop from most monsters within your level range.
  • Hot Summer Boxes cannot be opened after August 12.

Everyone’s Bingo

Requirement: Lv. 33 or above (Can participate 10 times per day)

    • Speak with Kemdi in the Event Hall and accept “[Bingo] Playing Bingo En Masse”.
    • Enter the waiting list by accepting the invitation that appears above your character's head at 10 minutes past the hour, every hour between 7AM - 10PM (Pacific).
    • There must be a minimum of 5 minimum players and there is a maximum of 100 players.
    • Click the numbers on your board as they are called by Kemdi in order to complete a line.
    • Upon completing a line, get ranked in by pressing the ‘Bingo’ button.
    • There are three rounds.

Rewards:

    • Basic: Dizzy Drop Event Ticket (3)
    • 1st Place: Hot Summer Coin (20)
