MapleStory is a constantly evolving game, full of heroes, villains, and everything in between. But none of them are as important to us as you, our players who make Maple World what it is! The history of MapleStory is a long and winding one, but now we'd like to turn the attention to you, and hear more about your own journeys that you've taken as MapleStory has grown over the years. For today's edition of What's Your MapleStory, we spoke to RuneLeimon, who shares their love for Demon Avenger and Masteria!!                                                                      

When did you start playing MapleStory?

My name is Rune, both in-game and online. As a character/in my MapleStory career, I often see myself as a wanderer who seeks out neglected areas or things that don’t follow the “meta” that most of the community sticks to. Personally, I’ve always thought it’s more fun to do content you like rather than copying someone else’s story and progression without liking it yourself. I’ve played on, and off since before Big Bang, but didn’t really have a chance to play seriously until shortly after the Glory update, and the removal of many items players continue to beg for to return. While I can see their points, and partially would like them to return as well; I focus my attention more so on things still in the game.

Which class do you main and what makes it special for you?

My favorite class is definitely Demon Avenger. This class went from soaring highs to widely considered a joke of a class. So while I pray it gets improved down the line; I do still love the theming of it enough to continue my journey as a Demon Avenger regardless.

What is your favorite memory while playing MapleStory?

I actually have plenty of memories of MapleStory. I’ve been around since roughly the very beginning, and most of it’s a blur due to my young age at the time. I do remember just enjoying MapleStory pre-Big Bang even though I did get one of my first characters stuck in Sleepywood, haha. Things sure have changed since those days. I think others that stand out would definitely be the classic events like Olivia’s Haunted House or Maplemas. It was always fun gathering up quest items, and enjoying new areas even if they were only temporary. The primarily cosmetic items were definitely a nice reward too. If more areas get added to the Masteria region, I do hope we can see the old Haunted House that used to be connected come back in some way. The old story is dear to me. I guess I could say that for Masteria, Phantom Forest, and that entire series of content though, I’ve always found myself drawn there both when Bigfoot was around, and now after the revamp. I never had enough friends to make a party for the CWK PQ, but I do hope it finally makes a return soon to get a chance to experience it personally. Given the MONAD and Masteria blockbusters, I’ve been getting eager to see it.

Any advice to our fellow Maplers?

For my fellow Maplers…I’ve got many things I could say, and I may not be able to word them as best I’d like to. But, I will say this. Always remember to treat this as a game that you love. Never lose sight of what makes you enjoy MapleStory, and don’t let yourself be pressured into doing things that might make you lose that feeling. Mushy point aside; I’d also like to take a moment to also say that Solo / Struggle running is not only a blast but much more doable than you might think. You don’t necessarily have to jump into Minimum Stat runs. But, many recommendations or guides suggest players vastly over-prepare for a given boss. Instead of fearing the inability to clear a boss or content, just give it a shot! You may fail a few times, but that’s okay. Focus on running out the timer, and learning so you can focus on doing damage without dying out. You’ll probably find you can clear things you might not have thought to try, and even provide better support for your party if you run with any.
